Booker T. is the place to be!

For over a century, the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center has stood as an abundant, authentic, joyful Black space serving San Francisco's Fillmore and Western Addition neighborhoods. It has been a safe haven and a transformative force uplifting entire communities across generations. 

In a time when Black San Franciscans face unprecedented displacement and rising inequities, this community center serves as more than just a building — it's a lifeline that directly touches 6,000 lives annually while reaching thousands more through cultural celebrations that preserve Black joy, identity, and self-determination. 

We are one of the few urban spaces where anyone in the community can access comprehensive services. Our unique 72,000 sq ft. community center and service-enriched housing site is a hub for education, childcare, senior services, family stabilization, food justice, recreation, workforce development, and community building. 

From the seniors who fellowship over culturally-relevant meals to the youth discovering their potential through Freedom School curricula, every program embodies the Center's profound commitment to ensuring that Black people don't just survive in San Francisco, but thrive and shape the city they call home.
